Cookie and Local Storage Policy
Cookie and Local Storage Policy
Last updated: 2 August 2026
This policy explains how NextCareerNow uses cookies, localStorage, pixels, scripts, browser identifiers, and similar technologies on nextcareernow.com.
1. What these technologies are
- Cookies are small text records saved by a website or third party in your browser.
- LocalStorage and sessionStorage let a website save information in your browser, sometimes for longer than a browser session.
- Pixels and scripts can record that a page or event occurred and send technical or usage information to a provider.
- Browser push subscriptions contain an endpoint and cryptographic information that allow notifications to reach a browser after permission is granted.
The same consent rules may apply whether information is stored in a traditional cookie or through another device technology.
2. How consent works
Where the law requires consent, we ask before using non-essential storage or related access. Continuing to browse is not treated as consent. Rejecting optional purposes does not prevent you from using the core job-search service, although some optional functions, measurement, personalised advertising, or alerts may be unavailable.
For eligible users in the UK, EEA, and Switzerland, Google's Consent Management Platform displays our choices and records them using the IAB Europe TCF v2.3 framework. The live message contains the current list of purposes and participating advertising vendors.
If the controls do not open, the consent service may not yet be available for your region or browser. Email contact@nextcareernow.com for assistance.
3. Technologies we use
The examples below describe the technologies found in the site implementation. Exact names and durations can change when a provider updates its service. The Google consent message and each provider's current notice provide additional live detail.
| Category and providers | Examples | Purpose | Typical duration | Control |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Consent and strictly necessary operation NextCareerNow; Google CMP |
Consent status or TCF string; security and session state | Remember privacy choices, provide requested functions, maintain security, and prevent abuse | Session-based or until the consent record expires, is refreshed, or is withdrawn | Always active only where strictly necessary or legally exempt |
| Search and functional preferences NextCareerNow |
lastParams, userParams, jobs, webPushParams, location and recent-search data |
Remember searches, restore results, and provide features requested by the user | Until overwritten, removed by the site, or cleared in browser settings | Consent where the storage is not essential to a feature you requested |
| Internal measurement NextCareerNow; service endpoints at youwantwork.com |
uid, oReferrer, lastLoadUrl, page and click events, campaign parameters |
Measure visits and referrals, diagnose flows, improve results, and prevent duplicated actions | Browser identifiers remain until deleted or browser storage is cleared; server records follow the Privacy Notice retention criteria | Consent where not strictly necessary |
| Google analytics and advertising Google Analytics, Google Ads, AdSense/CSA |
_ga, _gid, _gcl_*, Google advertising or invalid-traffic-prevention storage, and related identifiers where deployed |
Analytics, ad delivery, ad measurement, conversion attribution, fraud prevention, and personalised advertising if selected | Varies by technology; some Google analytics identifiers may last up to 24 months | Google CMP choices and Google account/browser controls |
| Location and error services Mapbox; TrackJS |
Search location, IP address, page URL, device details, and error information relevant to the requested feature | Location search, technical support, stability, and error diagnosis | Provider- and configuration-dependent; retained only for the service and retention purposes described in the Privacy Notice | Consent where device storage or non-essential tracking is used; otherwise requested-service or security controls |
| Browser notifications NextCareerNow and the active web-push provider |
Push subscription endpoint, notification permission, job tags, location preferences, and pseudonymous identifier | Send job notifications that you request and measure delivery | Until you unsubscribe, revoke browser permission, or the subscription becomes invalid | Separate browser permission and notification opt-in |
4. Google services
Google services can automatically receive information such as the page URL, IP address, device and browser information, consent signals, and advertising interactions. Depending on your choices, Google may read or set storage to serve ads, measure performance, prevent fraud, or personalise ads.
5. Other ways to control storage
In addition to our privacy-settings control, you can:
- delete or block cookies and site data through your browser;
- clear localStorage and other site data in browser privacy settings;
- change notification permission in the browser or operating system;
- use provider account controls, such as Google My Ad Center; and
- unsubscribe through the link in a job-alert email.
Browser deletion may remove your saved privacy choice, in which case the consent message may appear again. Blocking strictly necessary storage can cause parts of the site to stop working.
6. Updates and contact
We may update this policy when technologies, providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Questions can be sent to contact@nextcareernow.com.
